Lao PDR Constitution
The Constitution of the Lao People's Democratic Republic as adopted August 15, 1994. For 19 years, the Lao communist government ruled the country without a constitution. Even after the adoption of the constitution in 1994, the rights and liberty guaranteed by that Constitution rings hallow because the Communist Party usurps complete power of the State.
Human rights violation and brutal suppression of the people and political dissent remain widespread.
